Winter Weather Resources

When cold weather approaches, staying informed helps you make safer decisions. Below are official tools for tracking travel conditions, utility outages, and local safety updates. Use these resources before traveling or when weather impacts begin.

4 P’S OF WINTER PREPAREDNESS

Remember the 4 P’s of Winter Preparedness to help keep your household, pets, and property safe during a winter weather event.

  1.  People — Check in on Family & Neighbors. Especially those who are vulnerable or older. Dress for the weather. Stay warm and wear layers.
  2. Pets — Don't forget your pets and animals. Keep them warm and bring them inside if possible.
  3. Plants — If you have outdoor plants that are vulnerable to colder weather, move them or bring them inside where it is warm.
  4. Pipes — When temperatures drop low, pipes can freeze and burst. Disconnect your garden hose, insulate outdoor pipes, and leave a faucet dripping to avoid this.
